Sophia Deuterigou is a Greek poet and works as a Business Developer in the private sector. She is the creator and producer of the accessible platform Starthands, which features inclusive applied arts. Her goal is to foster collaboration among an increasing number of arts and artistic projects, ensuring universal accessibility and social responsibility.

The refined sign language conveys the exquisite meanings of Greek poetry through interpretation, adapted to hand expression for Deaf and hard-of-hearing readers. Special sign language adaptation is also available for children.
The Braille system enables free reading and tactile familiarity, encouraging readers with visual disabilities to study the poetry collection in their own way and independently. The written language in Braille code should never disappear. Hands are the eyes that read.

The official presentation of the first universally accessible edition by Sophia Deuterigou and Kaktos Publications took place at the Officers’ Club of the Armed Forces. The event was attended by academics, sociologists, accredited interpreters, linguists, and artists in a magnificent evening dedicated to accessible poetry for all!
A large audience honored the poet and her remarkable literary and social work, which bridges humanity with its future and evolution through the ethical use of technology.
The first poetry collection in our country and in Europe to be presented in Braille, sign language, and International Sign. This groundbreaking approach ensures not only access to new dimensions of literature but also the opportunity for people with disabilities to engage in reading.
From a very young age, her poems have been published in newspapers, scientific journals, poetry tributes, and anthologies. Her studies in sociology and professional experience in Greek businesses laid the foundation for meaningful engagement with people and research into resolving significant societal issues.
In 2021, she published the first edition of her poetry collection Ek Vakkheias Monogenesis (Vakhikon Publications). This was followed by the transcription of selected works into Braille, the interpretation of poems in Greek Sign Language, the release of a special edition of illustrated notebooks for children with parallel sign language interpretation adapted for Deaf and hard-of-hearing children, as well as the launch of the first digital poetry card featuring English translations and International Sign for the global Deaf community.
The second edition of Ek Vakkheias Monogenesis arrives as an innovative, inclusive, poetic, and artistic work, bridging all forms of reading and writing through an accessible edition for everyone, published by Kaktos Publications.

In 2019, he was elected President of the Greek Sign Language Interpreters Association, and in 2020, he became the General Secretary of the European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters. He has participated in European and international conferences on Deafness and Sign Language interpretation, as well as specialized training in audiovisual translation, including subtitling for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and audio description for individuals with visual impairments.
He served as a mentor for social and startup enterprises in the 6th cycle of the egg program. He speaks English and Russian, holds certification in the Braille writing and reading system, and was a martial arts athlete for many years.
In September 2019, he published his first literary book, followed by the first accessible fairy tale for Deaf and blind children in Greece in 2020. He collaborates as an interpreter with the Hellenic Federation of the Deaf and the National Foundation for the Deaf.
In September 2016, he took on the role of Coordinator for the efsli European conference held in Athens, and in 2023, he is leading the organizing committee for the same conference in Thessaloniki.
